Default VIR is Wet

After completing my NASA Comp School Friday, Saturday after qualifying in decent weather the Thunder race was a bit wet. I learned that Nitto NT1 Tires suck in the wet. I also learned that Hoosier Wets do their job. Anyway have a good chuckle at this short video.

Dry tomorrow? Am I dreaming?

looked liked you touched the curbing on the left and it started the spin. i was at VIR a couple weeks ago with ZONE2 and the track looked just like that all weekend. turn 6a claimed 8 victims. glad to see you had no damage

Default Rain

That's one way to let those crazy Mustang racers by without being clipped. Hang in there Alex.

Just curious - did you consider leaving the PSM on during the wet?

Yup, plus being nearly totally off throttle at that instant.

My 2001 does not have PSM as an option. Just ABS.

Sunday was much better. I finished even after being pushed off at Oak Tree on the last lap! While I know I have a lot to learn, the NASA event was excellent. I intend to post some of that session to YouTube. You can search vb996 and see my video.

And thanks for the various comments. I know I risk criticism both positive and negative but what the heck!

Alex,

Good for you getting out there in those conditions. Glad to see you had a clean off. I came by your car to say hello on Friday but you were not around.

What tires were you running during the wet session?

Kerrigan,
Thanks again for hooking me up. I feel better now that I have the rains its just unfortunate we didnt do it the day before. Or maybe not having them saved me from doing something stupid!!!

Hey Tim, I think the fuel pump died I was telling the car MORE GAS MORE GAS to keep up w/ you and she said NO MORE!

You were really haulin down the straights! See ya out there next time, congrats on the win.

O yea... also, in the lap before I pulled off, your car was burning and spitting a good amount of oil. Dunno if that is normal, but if not, get it checked out before next race.

Good job Alex, nice recovery and getting out of the mudpit...nice slow and easy throttle was the key...good job man. Also, glad to see you jump "into the fray".

Eric, what a bummer, I was stunned when you dropped back and let me by...thought you were just trying to be nice!??

The full course yellow mucked everyone up towards the end of the race, we were all bunched up with Mustangs and Camaros/Firebirds and a pretty quick Honda...kinda crazy...saw TONS of people running the yellows, even on a FULL COURSE yellow, kind of disappointing to see boneheads in motion.

Yea. If I remember right, you were right behind Doug and Doug was on my tail hard into T3. Right about apex of T3 the car shut itself. As quick as I could I moved and pointed you guys by.

I just tested the fuel pump w/ 12V and it works. Ugh. Which means either a relay or wiring. GAWD I hope it is the relay. I hate tracing wire.

We have no doubt you'll figure it out Eric, get to it...and I'll find that elusive second I have left in the car, think it fell out of the driver's seat on the 4th lap or so.

Let's spend the remainder of this thread making sure of a few things:

1 - that we convince Alex to carry his *** up to Summit and do it again, NASA-style.

2 - we ensure we get another shot at out-gunning Timothy in his new "pimp" rhyyyyyde...cuz you know we all love that thang.

3 - that Eric finds his "demons" so that he may perform an exorcism and race another day
