Default Unlimited budget, I would drive:

Had a discussion with some of the local guys last weekend, so I thought I'd throw it out there. I'm going to go into the shop and work on an engine, and check back to see if this turns into a discussion.

So, for me, now at my advanced age (46) I'd say I'm only good enough for a lower end sports racer like IMSA Lites. Maybe (shudder the thought) a DP. But only because I know there's no way in hell I could truly sniff at the limits of an LMP1 or 2 car now.

Past life, e.g. 20 years ago, an Atlantic or even CART. Even if I killed myself trying to get to Indy............

I was thinking purely track here. And along the lines of which racing series, too.

Gotta have the talent, too! At LEAST the old 110% (?) rule they had in F1.

I'd run a cup car as well. In a fat stacked Toterhome.

I'd buy a team, and then bench race in the pits.

Yes, I'd buy a track. VIR? WG? maybe the new High Rock? Then I'd start my own series. Cup cars, maybe RSR's? On second thought we need our own formula that factors age of the driver into the equation then us 46 year olds can still compete. Oh, and lots of grid girls.

Now if we're talking total fantasy-land: an island somewhere with a track around the perimeter (rally course), proper road circuit with enough of a straight for a landing strip. And a golf course in the middle. Bungalows and the rest of the resort trappings for the family, etc.

But I'd be perfectly happy as I started this out........a sports racer that's fast enough to challenge what's left of my skills. And like many of you, I prefer to do it all myself, so a big enough rig with all the luxury trappings to be able to transport it all wherever. (Which was my original plan in a few years on a 1/3 scale with the Radical and an RSA stock type club racer.........until the geniuses in charge decided to drive the truck over the cliff.)

I've been a mid engine fan for many years and to me the ultimate car for street or track would be...

2008 Ferrari F430 Challenge Stradale

I like the idea of IMSA Lites with the new electric West chassis. WTCC, Australian V8, and DTM are high up on the list. Any of the cars that run in those series would be just fine.
