And keep your feet and pedal cluster dry in the car. Be VERY careful not to get the bottom of your shoes wet, as they can slip off of the pedals.

[QUOTE=Flying Finn;6324805]Please hope again, in rain, you'll learn much more.

I couldn't agree more with Jack.

oh, i definitely dont have a problem driving in the rain. i've been on the track in the rain a few times and have had a blast. i agree that you learn great car control and it makes you be smooth on the track. however, the forecast shows 90% chance of thunderstorms which in that case i'll most likely be sitting in the truck watching a movie instead of doing any kind of driving. here are a few pics of me in the rain at Barber

getting a point by in the rain

We don't get a lot of rain practice here in Texas, especially in the midst of a once-every-50-years drought. But when we do, it is among the most valuable of lessons.

Then I guess you guys don't get much rain then. These are our wet-weather driving shoes... aptly named the "Enduros".

Ask in the driver's meeting if they allow the passenger window up. Most org's have an up or down policy on the passenger side - window is either all the way up or all the way down. Otherwise, wind down the driver's window at the last possible moment. As Jack said, most of the water will come in when your sitting on the grid. Roll it down going on to pit lane as opposed to in the paddock or in staging.
Since this is your first event, the right side (instructors') window will also have to be down and you'll only get wet sitting on the grid. Enjoy the event....you'll have so much adrenaline flowing you won't notice any rain in your car.

Rain driving is lots of fun, just stay away from painted surfaces, and you want to avoid the hump in the kink. Also be careful exiting turn 3, I had a tank slapper there and if you go off, you could end up in the creek. Other than that, it's pretty safe.
