Default FSR DE at VIR Memorial Day Weekend!

Our 2009 Spring Drivers Education (DE) event at Virginia International Raceway (VIR) will be 22-24 May. We will be running the fabulous Full Course all three days! This event is open to all PCA members and our friends from the BMWCCA 18 and over with a valid US-issued driver's license. Registration opens 23 February.

Beginner/Novice run groups will be assigned an instructor and attend daily classroom sessions. Come out and learn more about the performance of your car and develop your driving skills - at your pace. Our goal is to provide a safe, structured and controlled teaching and learning environment. The PCA DE Program is designed so the participant can improve his or her driving abilities and acquire a better understanding of vehicle dynamics and driving safety.

A new addition to our DE program is the opportunity to try it out without signing up for the entire event. For a $50 fee, we'll get you out on the track in your car with an instructor for a single session mid-day on Saturday. We will also offer charity laps during lunch hour to raise funds for FSR charities.

Online registration and payment is required for participation in this event (including the single session DE introduction described above) through www.motorsportreg.com.

REGISTER HERE!! http://www.motorsportreg.com/index.c...C16927A8FE4A5C

Payments will only be accepted via credit card through this website. The regular registration fee is $375 for all three days and $150 for Instructors.

Instructors: We encourage all our instructors to come out, join the fun and support our event. If you know instructors from other regions, please pass on this information and ask them to check out the DE section of our website. All the information they need is also available on the MotorsportReg website starting this coming week. We can never have too many instructors. If you're an FSR instructor, the option to register as such for this event should be available to you on the registration site. If it is not, please email our DE Registrar, George Michaels at wham66@yahoo.com to be added to the list. You must have a MotorsportReg account and have FSR added to your list of clubs on that site for the registrar to add you to the FSR instructor list. For instructors that are new to FSR events, they should forward their credentials/references to George. We sincerely appreciate all of our instructors offering their services at our DE events and we welcome prospectiv e instructors to join our team. If you’re interested in becoming a DE instructor, please contact our Chief Track Instructor, Paul Oberdorfer at paulo@air-tite.com, for information. If you have any general DE questions or have suggestions for our event, please contact our DE Chair, John Kopp at john@racewerks.net.

In the near future, we will begin using the MotorsportReg website to facilitate registration for many of our other FSR events, to include fun drives and the 50th Anniversary Weekend in October. So we encourage you all to establish a free account and add FSR to your list of clubs on the site. It will make signing up and paying for FSR events a breeze and significantly reduce our administrative burden.

See you at the track!!!

I have decided to join you. My first trip to VIR. I have always heard nothing but raves about the track.
I really only run Barber and RA. Similarities?
How are the lodgings?
Recommend any videos to watch to learn a little about the course?
Hope to see you there.

Excellent. I look forward to meeting you. I have some video on youtube. You can search under vb996. I have attached an interesting off track video here.

Search VIR in you tube and you will find much better driving than me I am sure. Also the Chin Motorsports website has good video for all the tracks where they run.

Alex, just tried to register but have to wait for the registrar to update my profile to allow me to register as an instructor. As soon as that is fixed, I'll register.

Dell,

See you at VIR (in 2 weeks also ?) for FSR. They always put on a good event.

Weather wise, it is looking like you made a good call to pass on Carolina's CMP event this weekend.
