UNBELIEVABLE new race track that slipped in under the radar!!!!!
Well at least mine anyway, I saw it when I opened the latest issue of Motorsport magazine and my jaw nearly hit the floor. I have to say it's the only new race track that has captured the imagination, It's like a combination of Spa and Bathurst. The scenery is just beyond words, it's built around a lake in San Luis Argentina and nearly 4 miles long. It was funded as a public works project by the government (I mean who else could afford to build something like that?). Carlos Reutemann is a major politician there so I'd be willing to bet if you dug deaper you would find he was behind it to some extent. It has hosted an FIA GT race already. There are hardly any pictures out there, and the circuit doesn't even have a website, but heres a few. This looks like its going to be a classic.

Cool!
People in Argentina love racing. I was working down there for a month and almost every night on TV there was local racing on TV. Not just a blurb on a news show but full races of everything from club racing cars to kids karting.

That is amazing. The local track here in Portland is one of the few publicly owned tracks in the states and let's just say it's not quite as nice as the track above...

Yes, that track is quite something isn't it?!
Made the "proper" way too by following the natural contours of the area...fancy that.
Here's an article from an issue of Autosport last November.
Stéphane Ratel of SRO (the FIA GT organiser) is quite keen on seeing it become a regular stop on the FIA GT calender - I can see why!
Below are a couple additional videos courtesy of Jorge Seger's YouTube page. (Jorge is author of the very recommendable SAE published book, Analysis Techniques for Racecar Data Acquisition)
Lastly, for those with interest in Argentine motorsports, here is a blog I read from time to time (no affiliation).
