I raced my Cup for the first time this weekend. Got 3rd in the night race, 4th in the sprint Saturday and DNF today in the enduro....Long story.... Didn't reach my goal of getting into the 15's but got a 16 flat. Awesome car! Also met a few Rennlisters for the first time like Mr. DeMan

Dave, good to see you racing at Sebring, love the new car, set your sights on kicking the *** of that Dan guy, you know the one who uses your last name! How did Dan do, did not see his car in orange sprint, problems?

It was nice to meet you Peter. Sorry to hear about your troubles in the enduro.

Dave, I saw the new car, (nice) but I didn't get a chance to say hi.

Great run Rick! I wasn't aware that you got another RSR. I'll have to stop up & see it sometime.

BTW we put that RSA motor in Jim's car Saturday and it started right up and ran great!

I've never seen so many Cup Cars in one place in my life.
This shot is pre grid for the Sunday Enduro.
King Leh and DeMan were already headed home.
Analog Mike was pounding it out in 7th/8th.

I could not believe the speed of the F class drivers....It seemed liked everyone had dropped 2-3 seconds off a lap compared to last years race. I thought a move into the 2:35's would be respectable but the top 944-968's were in the high 2:31 range.

I lent my car to a buddy to do the day sprint race and he was astonished how fast the top E & F drivers were.

Nothing like Sebring to break up the winter....

Frank,

Sorry to hear about the DNF in the Enduro. I ran into Phil on the plane ride home and he told me what happened. I had a new Hoosier go bad at 55minutes and had to pit for the tire change with no tire or lug wrench behind the wall. Stupid.....Cost me and my partner over 12 minutes. Was glad to finish.

yeah, well thanks for that. I jumped into Phil's Boxster just for Sunday, and was also surprised at how fast the E's and F's were! I thought you and I were having a good dice in qualifying, but I guess I was holding you up. Sorry about that, but my times continued to drop up until the engine's demise. It seems that old motor had shown some metal frags in the oil the night before, not that I knew that, but when the oil light came on and it went rough I shut down before it blew completely.
I might have gotten into the 2:35's, but not likely any less. In the end, I didn't even get 5 race laps. Still, I was glad to be there and get some track time, Phil was nice enough to accomodate me.

Spencer said that the engine could last a couple of days or a couple of months, he wouldn't know until after the race when he did another oil change. The good news is that it's in one piece I still have nightmares about the last yellow car I had...

Good to hang with everyone again, even if the engine did blow I still had a good time.

I totally agree...I was pretty happy with my move down to the mid-high 2:32s in my 951S (F car) and then I realized that almost everyone had dropped 2-3 seconds. Part of that had to do with the cooler weather I think.

It was a fun weekend.

Rick
