Default Hot Lap Placement

I have the hot lap display in the area below the stereo but am thinking about installings some gauges there. I was wondering where else other people mount their display. Thanks

I found a 3" or so long piece of all thread that went into the back of the hot lap, unscrewed the rightmost screw in the vent area of the center of the dash, spin the all-thread into the hot lap and the dash, worked really nice for my street car.

I bought a second ash tray off ebay and cut out the plastic frame.
The small display from Longacre fits perfectly, all wiring is concealed in the center council.
I come home from the track and put the stock tray back in, stealthy.

The wiring you see at the floor boards is for an A/F gauge i'm installing in the glove box, unrelated to this thread.

Do you have a cage? I have my timer mounted on the bar at the top of the windsheild. It hangs down and gives me a heads up display so I don't have to take my eyes off the track for long.

I put mine on the front of the glove compartment.

Nope. No cage. Car is used on street also.

Looks difficult to see while on the track.

Sorry, my car is at the cage builder right now but I can get you one when I get it back. I will tell you that mine is an Intercomp and the cord is too short to really be able to tuck it away. One of my winter projects is to splice some extra length in so I can get it out of sight. This usually isn't a problem with the HotLap models.

Like everything on a dual purpose car, it's a compromise.
It's not that difficult and has never been an issue.
A quick peek at the gauges, eyes back on track.
Quick peek at lap time, eyes back on track.
Repeat
