film protection on windshields
I'm having a new windshield installed and want to know what products work!
one layer type clear bar or multi layer tear off type?
my original one was all pitted out after only a couple of de events and now has a crack in it so i will be replacing it .
i am also going to put a banner logo accross the top of the windshield.

I use a 4-layer tear-off system. IIRC, it was about $400 installed. Had it for over a year before I felt the need to even THINK about tearing off the first layer

Multilayer tear off is the only way to go but the tear offs are not cheap! I hate German windshields. Apparently to meet TUV standards, the glass has to be "softer" and it pits easily. Compared to American and Japanese cars, I replace windshields 3 x more frequently on German cars. Driving west in the late afternoon in a 911 with a one year old windshield makes me see stars, literally! On my RS I consider the windshield to be a wear item like brake rotors and at about the same cost.

Bought mine through CDOC. They sell 2-ply and 4-ply. IMHO, the 2-ply is a waste of $$$ as the 4-ply is marginally more price-wise.
As far as install, any competent race shop can handle it (1 hour labor max).

Cole Motorsports is also where I get mine. They're just an hour from where I live, so I just drive over. They will ship, but it's important to have a skillful install. Otherwise you could have bubbles and/or optical distortion. Be sure the glass doesn't have any Rain-X or other gunk on it prior to installation. Rain-X afterward is okay.

One thing to be wary of, when yoou get skid marks from flying bits of R compound rubber, they are very hard to remove, hence the tear off style when it gets too bad.
