2009 NASA 944 Spec Rules Released
For the 944 spec guys out there and those interested we have completed and published the rules for the NASA 944 spec for 2009.

The intent of the is update was to clean up the rules and clealy spell out all you can and can't do to the cars. We expect no changes to the cars will be required to comply with these rules.

Aftermarket fiberglass or carbon fiber sunroof replacement panels, legal?
You should consider adding lexan windshields to the "transition" section, they are legal in POC & Cup

Rule states

16.3.6 Sunroofs must be securely mounted. All sunroof components such as motors, cables etc may be removed. Replacement of the sunroof with a metal panel is allowed. Filling in of the gaps to create a non-sunroof appearance is allowed. Entire roof panels may be replaced with panels
similar in contour and weight of stock non sunroof cars. Roof support structure on sunroof cars may be modified to match a non-sunroof configuration.

So you can replace the stock one with a metal panel. You can also replace the a non-sun roof skin on a sun roof car. ie replace the roof, but it needs to be the same weight as stock and contour. Since FG & Carbon fiber are lighter than steel they are not legal. Too light.
