For one thing, they use the run group colors differently.

A cup car in yellow would indeed be unusual.

Uh, yeah, I sure am. I'm glad I've been to one of their DE's before or my little smug Cup butt would be starting in Green. And happy about it.

I think she'll be just fine. Some of us down here have a "few" hours in them. We should be able to get her up to speed

Ok, you get the first lesson, how to release the clutch without stalling. Has anyone explained to her how it is a little different than the Cayman or GT3 that she is use to.

Whoa there cowboy. I don't have a Cup yet. Haven't even driven one but I've been for a ride and did notice a few things were different. No one had to explain that to me. But I do have a bunch to learn. Fortunately, I know some folks that are just about the best Cup people around. I do appreciate your concern though.

I know who you have been talking to and I figured they had explained the differences to you, I was just trying to give Jay a hard time.

I am curious though, where do you see yourself from a driving standpoint in say 1 to 2 years ? Or maybe better asked, what are your driving goals for the next year+ ?

This thread has inspired me to get a McLaren F1 GTR!

Now I'll be passing around a hat for donations ...
Give generously.

I think our "record" is a guy (good friend now) who showed up for his first event in '05 with the ex - Orbit Racing GT3RS that ran 2nd at Daytona in '04. Loudest green run group ever, but plenty of volunteer instructors to show him how it is done!

After a couple of events, we convinced him that he needed a different car for learning, so he put the Orbit car in storage and bought a learner car.....a 964 Cup Car.

For the record, I'm one of those guys who preach starting out in the right car and learning to drive it before moving up to something really fast, can't develop if you have too much car ... you've heard it all before. However, I'm also the guy who bought a Cup car when I had less than 2 years of experience on track in a time when I had just managed to get myself demoted from Black one session after being promoted. There is no quantifying the fun factor in that decision - sure I could have learned more had I stayed with my TT, even more had I gotten my GT3 first, but you will never, ever regret jumping into a Cup. And, as you know, there are a lot of experienced folks around willing to coach and help on setup. Life's short, and it should be fun. Buy a Cup and it will be (fun that is).

I guess I'm going about this all wrong. I started in a 250hp RS America and just moved up to a miata with all of 115 hp at the rear wheels.
