I was going through some old pictures and stumbed over these from my first ever race. Figured it would cool to see some of the stuff you guys have to with it.


First Race - PCA Club Race April 2002. - Phoenix International Raceway
Class GT4S - Car 84 944 spec car
2nd in Class Sprint & First in Class Enduro

Here I am being passed by a 2.8L 2200lbs 911 (also in GT4S running about 8 seconds a lap faster than me) and chasing a H 911 who I put my first real racing pass on.


Following another 911 this time F-stock with that other 911 in the background.


Follwing a F stock 951.



Chasing and Leading a D stock 964 RSA who I had nice battle with all weekend.

My first race was this year (3/29/08) with PBOC at my home track, Barber. First ever race was the enduro where I finished first in class (R4) and 8th overall. For the Sunday sprints I went 2nd and 1st in class. I only have photos showing the kink for this race.

I'm fairly happy with my first race year. I had 12 starts, 4 1st places, 4 2nd places, 1 3rd place, and 3 DNF's (finishes are for my class, not overall, all DNF's were mechanical).

Qualified well and got an excellent start, passing a couple "Cup" cars by T2. Mooty is on my butt and would pass me going into T14.

I don't think I have anything from my first race which is probably good (rain at LRP with a fatality) but my 2nd was the Watkins Glen double 50 anniversary. Some "fast" cars in my group (!)

Very rookie race at Road Atlanta in 2007. This is me in my old car in the highest compression part of T12. Changed car since.

Did we even have cameras in 1983? Now use your imagination.............a showroom stock class RX-7 at Holtville. Truly, truly, the lamest excuse for a "racetrack" ever created.

I dunno, did anyone say first Porsche race? Here's mine, circa 1975, at Bridgehampton, LI, on a Husqvarna before anyone knew what they were.

This is from my first season racing motorcycles in 1973. This is at West Palm Beach before it was bought by Moroso! The bike is an AS-1 125 Yamaha 2 cylinder 2 stroke air cooled motor in a 175 frame. I built the bike myself. That's my pal Jim getting ready to dive under me. Notice the "Magic Bus" in the background!

From my first Novice race, 04.26.2008. 10 races later... it's already hard to believe I was that green. But what fun it was!!!

And I've been battling the damn Miatas ever since! At least it was apropos that one of them was my first clean race pass.
