This is awesome. I plan to be right behind you in building a car, but stock class first... See you at the races.....

is that lever on the central tunnel for adjusting brake bias? or for sway bar bias?

Are you going to do a custom welded cage?

I know Hallett well, have raced there often......I have a red and black E36 BMW

The levers on the tunnel are for sway bar adjustment.
I want to do a custom cage but my budget won't allow it for 2009.

AIR splitter added held on with DZUS fasteners. The pile of PVC pipe next to the car will be assembled to make a paint booth soon.

Interesting project. I notice you've used Bondo to make the fenders, header panel, headlight covers and nose all one piece. Have you given any thought to how you're going to change the air filter, or is it in some otherwise-accessible location now?

Also, could you post some different photos of the wing mounts?

Thanks to all for the encouragement!

The fenders and nose are glassed together, the bondo hides the seams and fills the weave. Air filter is still in the stock location and easy to get to (on the Turbo the air filter is behind the radiator). Getting at the intercooler would involved unbolting the fenders and the entire nose, not an easy project!

One more hole yet to be drilled in each aluminum angle in the wing mount. I can't get a corresponding hatch picture right now. What you don't see is the brackets on the hatch. An inner and outer bracket are bolted to each other through the hatch, the inner bracket then has a horizontal bolt to connect to the support frame in the picture, the outside bracket has a horizontal bolt for the wing frame.

I did not think you were allowed to say "turbo" and "budget" in the same sentence.

Turbo chargers, Penske shocks, in-car adjustable sway bars, BBS rims, all these things require some sort of a budget :O

Some visible progress at last, sure feels good, I Hope to spray color on the interior this week !

Good on you! Nice project. It's always cool to see something rise from the ashes so to speak. In car adj sways will be a big bonus.

The interior is done in silver. I think one more coat of color and I'll be ready to wet sand and buff it. I wonder how many stickers it will take to hide my body work sins :O

Starting to look like a race car again
Buffed and washed it today. Tore down the paint booth. Lots of little details to go still, but on track to make the April PCA Club Race in Topeka!
