Default Hill climbs

Are they predominantly European or are there many events here stateside? Am aware of Pikes Peak but google was not much help in trying to gauge events & participation. It looks like there are some events, mostly it seems to me, up in the NE and clearly not so much here in NC.

Just wondering if anyone here participates in them regularly? I think it would be a lot of fun and an interesting twist on driving events but have never been able to try for myself.

There used to be one in NC called the Chimney Rock hill climb

Here's one in Eagles Nest NC

Giants Despair, Wilkes Barre PA. Climbed it many, many times at night in my high school sweetheart 69 GTO!
Not exactly made for turns but tons of fun when you're a kid, god only knows how I'm still alive.

My guess is that litigation and getting insurance has caused many venues to give up on the idea. There are seemingly very few out there nowadays.

On the contrary, there seem to be just as many hillclimbs around now than there were 10 years ago...at least from what I can tell with a quick search.

Polish Mountain Hillclimb in MD
Eagles Nest Hillbclimb in NC
Wolf Ridge Hillclimb in NC
Crow Mountain Hillclimb in TN

There appear to be quite a few events up in VT:

Quite a few in PA as well:

There are really a lot of cool cars that get climbed by Mt Equinox in Manchester Vt.

Some of the best walkin' 'round the pits ever as the racers are pretty relaxed and there really aren't any sponsored teams.

For the Westies, this one has been going in Oregon for many years...

Also Willamette Motor Club holds its annual Bible Creek Hillclimb in the coast range.

One of these days I intend to do one in my race car. Would be fun as hell.
