Default Road Atlanta: Chin

Wow, last weekend at Road Atlanta was treacherous to say the least.
However, I had lots of fun testing out off line passes in the rain.
Anyone from Rennlist participated in the event ?
I know there was one Porsche that wrecked on Sunday.

No, I'll be there this weekend with NASA. I'm running the 8-hr enduro on Friday and sprints on Saturday (if the car is still running!).

It was a Nasty weekend @ R/A with Chin.

Last count, we had four major incidents.

A highly modified Z06 hit the wall at the bottom of the downhill esses.

One BMW lost it going downhill to turn ten. Missed a shift and spun into inside wall.

Another BMW lost it coming out of turn five.

The Porsche incident... (I think) was at the top of the hill, going under the bridge.

Lots of spins... mostly without damage.

Turn 7 was like a flooded skid pad, had to tippy toe though there, very carefully.

My student had a modified 08 Z06... ~ 550 rwhp.

Needless to say, we never got to exercise the motor.

Cya @ the track,

Trumper

Although it felt more like duck huntin' weather, I learned a ton this weekend at Road Atlanta. You really concentrate on the feel of each tire and what the car is doing in those conditions. I logged 250 track miles this weekend and didn't do the happy hour Sunday.

Roach, were you in the red group? The Mini is sounding mean these days.

The Porsche incident looked like not a panel got away unscathed. He maybe got in 10 laps at the event before the crash.

I understand the black Corvette Saturday had an ignition problem that fired up full bore right around the sheet of water coming up from the bottom to 5. Could be bad intel.

I didn't realize that the very nasty E36 incident at 10 was a missed shift. That was scary. I was impressed how quickly the emergency vehicle was there, however.

Another E36 into the wall at the entrance to the esses.

I was in the blue group but the Mini went out a couple of times in the red group with David L. at the wheel.

Tucker, great looking car you have there.
I got really tired after running for about 45-50 min of the happy hour on Sunday. My arm muscles started to hurt trying to brace myself flyin around in my stock seats/belts.

there instructing ...great fun..my student went solo and he did not crash although nearly 130 mph down that back stretch in rain and fog was awsome (me not the student)....got real smooth but my shoulders very sore that first day as is was very tense on occasion....i find rain days to really smooth out my unsmooth bad habits

I was there and my car saw very little of the track. Worn out R888s don't work very well in the wet. I did have fun on the skid pad practicing my fast and furious drifting moves though. I can't wait to get back there in the dry!
