Default Roebling PCA Race

Come on guys! Last one of the year. Weather is always good. Hotels are cheap and food is great! Plenty to do in downtown Savannah for your honey/family. It's just 3 weeks away.

AC....love the "papa smurf"!!! Sweet color.

By the way, any relation to the "papa smurf" that Bob Saville has? Or just coincidence they have the same name?

I'm signed up for the Club Race which will be my first trip to Savannah. However, after watching Peter's video (very smooth) it looks awfully boring.... Tell me it's a little more challenging. Hell, 3/4 of the run was in third gear

Hi AC,
Yep, our 914/6 has been known as Papa Smurf for about 6 years now....long story how it came about, but it was given its name by a few friends over a couple adult beverages....

Basically, it's the blue that got the Smurf name (fairly obvious) and it was originally Nadine's father's car when it was stock, so the Papa part worked pretty well.

We added the dark blue much later, just to give it some interest...

Nice vid, very smooth.

It is a little more fun with 30 more cars. It is a series of long sweeping turns with plenty of runoff. So, guys really push their cars to the limits of adhesion here. However, turn 9 is very unforgiving and must be perfected to get a really good time down the straight. Almost every race, someone is towed off from hitting the inside wall. It's not the most challenging track I've driven, but a whole lot of fun with safe places to work on your driving skills.

After my brain fart at Daytona, I'm not making tit to RRR this year. It is one of my favorite races, nice and laid back and the weather has always been perfect.

Peter, if RRR is boring, you are not going fast enough. It is actually quite technical and the learning curve is a step function, not a gradual one. As you master certain turns you take full seconds off, not just fractions.

Turn nine is decepitvely dangerous, but once mastered, you can accelerate all the way from turn 8 into the braking zone in turn one, well, if you brought your ba!!s.

It is also neat because it levels out 911 and 944 performamance more than any other track.

Everyone enjoy and I will see you at Road Atlanta in the spring.
