Anyone know the difference between the Sparco X-light 300 and the X-light HC? I was planning to buy an HC, but was curious what improvements have been made.

If the HC is the one I am thinking of it has a slightly lighter Nomex fabric 270g per squre meter vs. 300.

I can't comment on the current suits but the few people I race with who have Simpson suits, have suits that they have had for quite a few years. That gives me some indication as to the quality of the suits.

Also they have an option for a custom suit. A custom suit that is slightly heavier will obviously fit much better and can 'feel' lighter than an off the rack suit.

I went with the Sparco Xlight HC instead of the Stand21 because of the pricing. 1200 vs. 2600 this spring. I like the Sparco and it is a little heavier than the Stand21. I think that it is comfortable enough, easy to wash- I'd recommend it for the price and 3 layer protection. I especially like wearing it to DE drivers meetings.

I don't have any experience with the Alpinestars.

I have bought a couple of things from Chad at Stand21 in Atlanta he is a good guy. 770-965-7880

I couldn't tell you the model #, but it was the one with stretchable zones (I think they only make one this way).

Yeah.... Well there is a drawback with that..

But I second the recommendation on Stand21. Really nice suits & accessories. Perhaps not what I'd recommend someone to start with - due to the price. But you know somehow the slippery slope is ending somewhere near.

ST3000 and now the AirForce suits. I have the Porsche Motorsports ST3000 suit (with the Porsche Swirl, not the newer design they are selling now). Both the ST3000 and the AirForce suit are made with their stretchable fabric. Very comfortable suits. And I will addmy voice to those praising Chad at Stand21 at RoadAtlanta. Great guy and very helpful.
