I'm on vacation so I can post any pics of my cage but it was done by the same guy that did Brant's above, www.rollcageguy.com I think he has some new pics on his website. Mark is in Akron, OH, and I highly recommend him. The quality and craftmanship are top-notch.

What is the deal with the stubby tubes? Seems like they will induce more load at the attachment since you are trying to bend an unsupported tube rather than pluging the load bearing tube right down to the base plate.

Easier to fit the tubes to a tube, most likely.

The stubby tubes are fitted to threaded bungs and other mounting points for the suspension and subframes that are beneath 2-3 layers of sheet metal that had to be cut away. They aren't mounted to any sort of "backing plate" at those locations:



The only exception is the rear shock towers where some stubby tubes are added so that 4-5 tubes could come together in a node. The load coming from those shock towers is parallel to the stubby tube since the shocks mount essentially straight up and down.
