All...please don't make me close this thread. Please stop the political posts. Unless they are about the politics of F1

It looked like Hammy was going to take out Alonso trying to unlap himself at the end of the Fuji race, Alonso wisely pulled off line and lifted to let him past knowing he had victory in his sights. If the roles were reversed I wonder if Lewis would have done the same? I think he would have fought to defend and potentially taken them both out. You'd think after his blunders cost him the WDC (more than once) he'd wise up, but I don't think he has. He is obviously a skilled driver but he has start thinking big picture. I think the championship is his to lose, but it was last year too....

Another thing about Lewis and his Lap 1 performance in Japan. The TV broadcast didn't show that he went off the track in Turn 2 also. He got extremely close to Alonso after Turn 1, then went straight through Turn 2, losing 4 more positions.

High res version here.
Low res here.

Its pretty sad that our TV coverage failed to show any of this.

Hammy has a strong chance of that.

Interstingly in 2007 he performed well in Japan, Then the wheels came off in China in a combination of team stupidity and driver stupidity. Those tires were toast and he should have come in sooner. Now push to then end and allow the driver to make a dumb error. The in Brazil again he drive over his head and was done for.

This year in Japan he tries that crazy move in turn 1. You can argue all you want about penalty or no, but the bottomline it that it was dumb. You are leading the championship and need to come in 1 spot behind you main rival to win it and he is 2 cars back of you and you still go in deep and risk it all. Dumb very dumb.

So even with all the issues he has what 4-5 points on Massa with 2 races left. Should be easy for him and the only danger is a screw up which given his track record could very well happen.

being a brit I hope Hammilton wins however I certainly have my doubts. I little immature.... yes, a little cocky.....yes, too aggressive........probably, too emotional (does not use his head) especially under pressure....... probably, good driver ....... most certainly. There is no denying that he has certainly livened up F1 (including the controversy)

I do however think it is 50/50............... only 2 races (or maybe 1) will tell!

Wow ! not sure which association is worst Obammy or Pebbles

Lewis is a numbnut talented Numbnut, but still a numbnut... if FA is anywhere near that mclaren over the next 2 races he will lose it...... His lack of focus is uncanny .

With dat said , i still need Lewis to make it happen, another round of bottles would go along way ahhhhh

The teenage perspective....

Last weekend at Vegas, Stars of Karting national finals, a very top driver in the ICA Jr (JICA) category simply had to drive around in circles and finish the race in order to claim the National championship.
Ended up with 2 DNF's in the 2 Sunday finals. Ended up losing the National championship.

My son turns to me in the garage later and says "can't believe he pulled a Hamilton".

It appears as though Hamilton is still a karter when it comes to the end of the season (bodywork be damned, I'm going for it)
