Default r compound vs street tire - part 2

Had an interesting experience today at Limerock. Went out in the morning on my toyo RA1's which are shaved. In the afternoon I changes to street tires as it started pouring down with rain. By the time I had changed them the session was over........ guess what........ sun came out and the track started to dry.
As I could not be arsed to change the tires again I decided to go out for the final session on them.

I had no issues on the street tires and was driving the same line as the RA1 but dialing it down a little and had themn screeming their little hearts out. What I did however notice was that they were not squeeling as hard in the downhill as the rest of the track.

I concluded I could carry more speed, so unlike on the RA1's where I dab the break on the downhill I built up to just lifting and went through the downhill with no problems. Really brought it home to me that I had thought the RA1s were faster (which they are) however I was the one slowing down the package.

Grreat learning curve to swap back and cant wait to put my learnings to test

Shame it will not be until next year now

Why? Plenty more days to run, including a CVR event 11/8!

ok guys please try not to flame me and recognise I am new to DE and full of youthful (ish) exuberance! I have so far done 18 days this year having done about 6 days in previous years and have been signed off to whits and drive a 944 turbo (background)

At LRP today video recorded my laps, came home and to my joy my times have gotten quicker. In the morning session I had 6 laps in the 1.03's with my lowest at 103.4. Now I know that is probably ssssslow to many on here but I am over the moon. I also did a high 1.04 on street tires which I was happy with and on play back actually went through the downhill faster than I do on ra'1. Guessing there is more time to come

I am officially ADDICTED!!! Just off shopping for some data capture gismos.

PS anyone have any issues uploading video to vista?

Dan, I would look south for November dates, even October at the Glen is a crapshoot! Check Summit Point (NOT Shenandoah or Jefferson, just Summit Main) dates out, it's a fun track!!

Did you mean uploading to Vimeo?

Audi Club has a November event at VIR. It might be cold, but probably not snowing!

Dan, you're slow and drive like a *****. just kidding

So far, I've been really happy with the Traqmate. It's user friendly, easy to synch video with and easy to transfer from car to car. It's also one of the less expensive options.

So, how many days are you going to shoot for next year? 30+? That's my record.

well, I am going to do a school over the winter (hopefully laguna in Jan) so I can get out over the NY winter months and also obtain a provisional race licience. Then shooting for 20-30 days and I want to put my toe in the water and do a race mid year. Thinking about the NASA supercup....... All depends on whether I am ready or not and can continue making progress.

As for ***** ................................ meoooowww
