was that the configuration with the "hill" or bypass?

Our SCCA grand finale race will be there to determine the championship! (ITE :))

Im looking foward to some LS style, tire chewing grip!

did many 202 on R888.
these times were right after the track was paved.

i was slightly slower than above numbers yesterday.
that's me being slow, not the track's doing.

Interesting.... most pros have mentioned to me that LS is not very grippy...

Anyway, my sources suggest 2 seconds per lap faster

Tom W 09-23-2008 08:14 PM

Well, I think it may be a tad faster, but I'm not convinced it's 2 seconds. I have to review my times from earlier this year to last weekend (I'm traveling on buisness this week and have not done much yet). I ran a lot of 1:58's but could not push it lower (of course Rich Walton rans 1:56's in my car on Friday - guess I have more work to do). I'm blaiming the tires dying as it couldn't possibly be the driver. I did not think the wear on my slicks was any different than previous outings. We saw a bit more graining in the tires but think it was due to other factors.

Mark: We ran over the top , not the bypass.
Jack: it's just what you need to break that 2:00 barrier. :)

GGR ran over the hill.

Tom,

Thanks for all of your help over the weekend. The car is at JWE getting fixed. Rich is a fantastic guy. They will get it done in time for my next race in October at TH (CW direction). I'll see at Sears Point!

i need to break 2:00 barrier too.
tom, i know you are faster than 1:58. if my sofa did 2:02 and a single 201, you got to be 1:55

JackOlsen 09-24-2008 05:35 AM

I've stuck my toe in the door of that barrier. I did a couple of 1:59.9's last time I was there.

(Full disclosure: that was with the bypass. I was at 2:01.5 with the cyclone. The laps are in my signature.)

hmm, is that why they are ALL running a min of 2 seconds faster now at Laguna?

Anderson ran a 1:30.7 in that 928 stroker last year at Laguna and 1:31 alone this year. on the DOTs in WCGT, he qualified in the 1:36s before the paving back in '04 with no changes to his car since. The track has more grip and you can see it in the tire wear too.

(us stocker kind of cars are running 1 second faster on DOTs on the new track as of a couple of years ago when they repaved it) I did feel slicker at first, but when you look at the times it became clear that we were all faster due to the surface. (maybe a little due to a straighter shot to the corkscrew)

It will be interesting to see what it feels like. a smooth grippy track will certainly help my times! along with a little more power ive found :)

I was 2:01.4 too on the DOTs. so, I should at least get in the 59's plus a second or two for the new power. Ill tell you how it goes at the end of October if i survive next weekend's big SCCA race at Laguna. :)

Probably 1-2 seconds quicker. I dropped about 2 seconds but that was also going from 25 HC MPSC to 15 HC MPSC.

However looking at NASA TT times might be better - these guys are more on top of their game than me (ie more consistent!). The two front runners in the TTS class (the same class a stock GT3 runs in) had the following times this year (8/24/08 was after the repave):

Driver A: 1:58.219 (8/24/08) vs 1:56.680 (6/7/08)
Driver B: 1:59.993 (8/24/08) vs 2:00.004 (6/7/08) vs 2:02.89 (3/9/08)

Those times are with the bypass

Granted it was likely hotter on the august date.

On 8/24 we were still dealing with Killer Kerbs. We had a day 8/25, and I did a mid-:52 (full track) on my second flying lap without even really trying. Best I've done ever, ever is right at :50 flat. I think it's going to come in really nice.
