Factory Corvette will be in GT2 next year, they did a press release about it a few weeks back.

I watch rolex and grand am simply because there isn't enough alms to watch.

Those pontiac and mazda gt cars are a joke, a funny one. They discredit (to me anyway) the program, while providing funding for it.

If they merge, I just hope it will strenghten alms and not dilute it. The changes on the table for alms are promising.

Is Penske leaving ALMS next year for sure? Will he head to Grand Am? Didn't he run a car at the 24 Hours with Taylor or am I just imagining that? I know this ALMS season isn't over yet but who will be back for ALMS next year? I think the Acura deal is the only one that is in ink.

NASCAR recently purchased Grand-Am from the original investors (which included the France family and several other very well known individuals in the world of both sports car racing and NASCAR). An ALMS merger is never going to happen, makes for great mental masturbation, but thats all it is.

From Gordon Kirby article on LRP this past weekend:

Meanwhile a veteran team owner and manager with close to forty years experience said at Lime Rock that if no new manufacturers front up with P1 cars for next year IMSA will create an equivalency formula to encourage Grand-Am Daytona prototypes to race in the ALMS.

"It's extremely unlikely that ISC or the Grand-Am will buy the ALMS," this gentlemen commented. "But it's extremely likely that prototype cars from that series will race in this series."

At this point, what the future holds for the ALMS remains unclear.

Full article. The above quote is all the way at the bottom.

Hard to see this happening without a serious compromise from Grand-am and less so from ALMS/IMSA and the ACO ...

Add 150 bhp to the DP's and ALMS will go away .......

I finally got to watch the Gradn-Am Daytona race last night and I was glaad to hear that the GXP will be replaced with the Camaro. I never really liked the looks of the GXP or GTO anyway. The Camaro body is a better fit for the class IMHO. I also heard that AXA is going to do a DP with TRG. It's good to hear some good news for a change.

Pontiac is getting out of business, not just out of grand am.

No merger? Then how about if NASCAR buys ALMS? It can't be worth much.
