Knowing Bruce for some time now, I feel he is on the right track and always had a fair outlook on modern open wheel formulas. I also feel its best to have manufacturers involved to lead the design, not as much the team owners. As we've seen in the past, team owners tend to steer a formula to what suits them best, not so much the needs of a particular formula.

With the merger, it would have been nice to see a commitment to a USA chassis manufacturer with a superior platform. Panoz is still reeling from CART's demise...another round of layoffs last week (great timing...'tis the season!).

The Indy cars either need more power or a better chassis. Otherwise, they'll soon be eclipsed by those "heavy" "clunky" LMPs on the road courses. In 2008, 3/10ths separated the pole Indy car from the pole Audi at St Pete; 7/10ths separated the pole Indy car from the pole Acura at Mid-O.
