Default Wheel Weight trape source???

Guys, I keep slinging wheel weights off and I need to get some heat friendly tape to hold these down. Seen the stuff before, but don't have a source for it...

Get the foil tape from an HVAC specialty house or an HVAC contractor.

The stuff they sell in Homo Depot is lousy and comes off......the good stuff doesn't, but it's expensive.

How much does the weight of the tape throw off your wheel balance?

wish I had known that before. I have been using the rated tape from Home Depot for years. I guess cleaning the area around the weight and rubbing it down tight helped some.

Look for the large roll with printing on the face fo the tape. This is the rated tape. Homo Despot sells it. The little rolls in blister packs is the thin cheap home owner stuff. If you want to get real sig line impressive use Stainless steel tape.

You can get the aluminum tape from Pegasus also. It's a 3M brand. Works great on my RSR.

I've had it come off a number of times. Key is the wheel needs to be clean before you apply.

Yep.. At Hoosier East I asked them not to tape the weights (they used purple duct tape last time) because I use metal tape. They said "no problem, we have that and will do it for you". Great! At the Glen race I see a nice strip of metal tape, with weights stuck to it, laying inside my wheel. Taped RIGHT over the dirt they did! Clean the wheel up like new, THEN have them balanced, then DIY...

The problem wasn't that they taped over the dirt, it was that the dirt was defective and did not adhere properly to the wheel. I ensure all dirt on any part of my car is tightly adherent and of the highest quality.
