Default Congratulations Mr. Chris Castagna!

For all you NE PCA racers who know Chris, lets have a big round of applause. He took his first pro-series race win this past Saturday at LRP. I was privileged enough to be the guy who chaperoned Chris at his first DE at WGI a few years back when Russ couldnt make it, so I'm completely psyched that he's broken through to the top step. He's been in the lead in every race in the series so far only to get taken out, so this victory is really cause for great joy and celebration for those of us who know him.

A little OT here, but when exactly does "pro" racing begin? IMO, I wouldn't consider TDI cup "pro."

EDIT-I'm not trying to downplay his win, I was just curious as to what other people thought.

That is phenomenal! Having raced against Chris, I know first-hand how good he is! I am in no way surprised by this result. He will have many more W's.

someone gives you a car / seat and you don't pay for the expenses? that's Pro in my book

Congratulations Chris!

Fast driver. We jousted, then he spanked me at the Glen, after his Dad showed me a few tips in my 930. Nice, sharp guys. Yeah, we'll see more of him.

Default good news

He has a lot of talent and is a real nice (kid) young man. It is a big step from Club Racing to the shark tank of feeder pro series.

When you are racing for more than a trophy, whcih they are.

The winner of TDi cup gets 100K and then another 250K if they sign with a 'pro' team. Which I consider big money.

However the series is horribly flawed in the way they address contact. Having spent the summer working at VIR and seeing the cars when they returned from a race was downright depressing. After Portland there was just one car that needed no body work. Some drivers are trashing there car every week they go out. Black Flag needs to be dusted off.

Without naming names there are 2 drivers that have managed to hit just about every car in the field
with little or no penalty.

Default Question?

Russ - Looked up results on the SCCA website and noticed that at the Mosport race Chris had the best qualifying time of 1:42:808 but started the race #5 on the grid? The pole sitter (Josh Hurley) had a best lap of 1:43:580. What happened?
