Default Tire Size Question

I'm currently running 245/45/17 front and 275/40 17 rear.
The 275/40/17 are not currently available in my tire and don't know when they will be. 245's are available.
The 245's have a diameter of 25.7", the 275's are 25.4".
My other choices are 295/40/17 with a diameter of 26.1" or a 315/35/17 with a diameter the same as the 275/40/17 (25.4"). All tires will fit on my rims which are 10.5".
Assuming the 295 or the 315 will fit under my wheel well, which choice would you make?
The diameter difference now is the rears are .3" SHORTER than the fronts. If I go with the 295, which I feel safer will fit, the rears will be .4" TALLER than the fronts. So the diameter difference is about the same, but in the other direction.
Am I thinking right? Will I see much handling difference between at 275 and a 295 keeping the front tires the same (I'll have to because the front wheel wells are full of tire).

I imagine you could see more understeer with either the 295 or 315 than with the 275s.
