Default Removing brake rotor heat shields a good idea?

Was wondering if this would make much difference in cooling off the front rotors/brakes. Currently also using big scoops under the car 2" off the ground to grab air. The car is 50% street, 50% track. Thanks for any info.

I took mine off before the last de, but I made a bunch of other changes at the same time. I like to think it helped a lot, as I used a lot less pads over the weekend. Haven't put them back on, but I may for the winter.

Good god man! Remove those shields, both front and rear.

I took mine off, and think it helped significantly with cooling. However, I also made a few changes at the same time, so it is hard to be certain how much that contributed.

I took mine off 9 years ago and the car gets a lot of street miles.

I read somwhere that the main purpose of these shields was to reduce water intrusion to the pad/rotor surface on wet days...not sure if that is true but mine are gone as well.
