As prevously mentioned...#0000(4 zeros) steel wool might do the trick. It's not as abrasive as you might think when steel wool comes to mind. I use it for cleaning stubborn exhaust tips on cars. Even if it does dull the surface some just go back with some more polish and a cloth or powerball and finish up the working area back to a high gloss finish. Also don't be scared if it looks worse before it looks better. Sometimes that's the only way to really fix defects like that. (think wetsanding and polishing paint...looks horrible after the wetsand and then great after the final polish).

Home Depot and Lowes sell polishing compound sticks and buffing wheels that fit in drills. HD has them in the tool area. Get a 3 inch or so reinforced cloth buffing wheel and the white compound stick. The wheel will look like many many round sheets of cloth stiched into a disk. Load some of the compound into the wheel by spining it in a drill on high speed and holding the stick aganst the edge . Use the loadded up wheel to polish the etch/stain out. The compound will turn black as it removes the oxides. buff the area with a clean cloth to remove the compound.

Once this is done drive in and out of the trrailer 100+ times with sticky track tires that are loaded up with paddock rock and sand. This will stop further ramp cleaning requirements.

Nothing will "clean" it because the metal surface is etched. Think about it, a "cleaner" has left a stain? Nope, surface etch. Just buff it out with buffing compound. Does your window cleaner smell like vinegar or have ammonia in it? Both will etch aluminum.

This is what I would do. I have the HD rouge sticks and buffing wheels (need different wheels for different grades of polish) and used it to bling up my Supercups before I got them Jethot coated. They also worked wonders on my stock exhaust tips.

Let me know how I can find you, or I'll be in Car #145, Black enclosed trailer. I'll be dropping off the trailer in the paddock tonight.

Irish Green 912"s" with the #7 on it. Mine has two yellow and 2 black wheels and a big silver wind up key on it so not as to be confused with the rest of the 912s there. I will be driving up in the a.m.

Kurt, nice meeting you, too.
When's your next event?
Are you going to PorscheFest in August?
