Default Age Requirements for Grand-Am Pits?

Does anyone know the age requirements to get in the pits for a Grand-Am race? I can't find them on the internet.

I'm tryin' to hang out with Leh in the pits for the Barber race. My Dad and I have a legal way to get in, but I don't know if i'm the legal age.

I'm 14, and can pass for 15.

Anyone know?

EDIT: It stinks because it's at Barber too. They barely let me in for the club races.

Me three. I remember when the pits at Roebling allowed 14 year olds - and then for the sake of safety... no more.

I'll write them for you - let's see if they reply. If they do... I'll return...

Wow, thanks!

We're renting Roebling in a few weeks.

But it will just be us, so I bet I can get in there.

You can come into the paddocks -- no problem
You, I am so sorry, will not be allowed past a certain fence - that leads to pit row. It's not a personal thing -- just an insurance regulation that went into effect a few years back. Again, so sorry. But... don't worry -- you will have great views of the track near Turn 5 -- where if you are going to spin out - that's the spot -- and 2-3 several places. Have a great time. You there on a weekday or a weekend? I tend to drop in to say hi to folks there a lot!

Thanks for e-mailing them. I doubted I'd be able to get in.

I'm not sure. Probably Friday-Sunday? Never been to Grand-Am, always been an ALMS person.

There must be some exceptions to the rules...Jordan Taylor (Wayne;s son) is a driver in the series and is currently 17.

John Place of Barber just wrote me back:
Pits or paddock? Most adults are not allowed in the pits or "hot pit" so I'm assuming you mean paddock. If you mean paddock they are fine with the minor waiver of course.

I'll 1/1 you if you wish to write to John yourself.

Meanwhile Mike - it depends on the group what age can go on the track. PCA DEs are 18; Dark Side 16; NASA had a 15 year old out there a year ago -- but hanging out on pit row - it just plain NO for anyone under 18 - at Roebling.

my son gets in and he is 5, one of the guys i drive with has a 7 yr old and he gets in as well. now its not every guard that will let you in - if one says no then go to another. the trickiest was just at the brumos race bc they were extra strict with the nascar boys there - they finally let him in half way through the race, but we didnt get him in before, but he was also in shorts, so.... the one time i asked a guard how old they were supposed to be he said "i think, like 12 or 14". the key is wear long pants, have your credential/ticket showing, and act like you know you belong. another trick is to ride in on a team cart. also, right before the race you can get out on the track for a picture (they let pretty much everyone for a minute), then you just stay in the pits. now my disclaimer is that i have not had to do it at barber.

good luck, i think you will get in.
