I instructed with them for 3 years. Fine group, great people, great cars. However, I can recall literally dozens of times there was a BAD off in Red, and/or Red drivers treated a session as a race, and/or if instructors ran in Red, the Red drivers were out to "prove" something to them, if you catch my drift. More often than not, when I was out & thge latter happened, I would park my car.

The show off factor cannot be overestimated. Just because their insurance allows it does not mean it is a good idea.

Russell,

Let me know if you run, I'll come watch you! Recovering from a detached retina! Op yesterday, recovery for next four weeks! UGH!

Dave, you really need to stop soft-shoeing things. Hope all is well in A-town!

Holy cow Toby, what happened? Was it an injury? What???
Take it easy with the recovery. One of my clients in Denver had the same thing, and he had lots of complications. Last time I was there, we went to dinner and I had to basically read the menu to him.

You'll come and what??? So... either someone is already tired of your recovering *** hanging around the house and is kicking you out, or you've become a more permanent resident of metropolitan Cresson. HSDE is not a spectator sport, and if it were, my driving would get me boo'ed off the track! What? Did the paint finally dry on that wall you've been staring at???

But hey, if you're that desperate to get out, then yep, I'm signed up... plan to be there both days. Actually, we do need to catch up on other things... we got about 5 minutes at the Mav club race, and it seems like the time before that was the LSR club race.

Let me know if you need anything to help pass the time during your recovery... tiddly winks, a fly swatter, a picture of your navel... whatever you need, man.

Oh, yeah, sorry, queef.

Toby, sorry to hear! Yeah, I don't often mince words when it comes to things that put my life at risk.

I am not at all a fan of TMS. Initially it's a bit novel that you spend so much time on the oval, but I found that boring after a short while, and the infield is quite lame. Supposedly the ALMS drivers had some very uncharitable things to say about the course after the one time they ran there a few years ago. Turn 1 is a monster braking zone -- make sure the whole braking system is in good order and check it frequently during the event.

Every new track is a good learning experience. But that was definitely a "done it once, got the t-shirt, never again" experience for me.

Night DE using 2-thirds of a rather infamous oval. Hmm, that could get exciting.

Thanks for the info aft. I also got some off-line observations which said pretty much the same thing. I'm coming to the conclusion that "unique" is the main draw, and I'm just not that bored yet. I'm going to skip it and wear my 2005 F1 USGP T-shirt instead.

Will do.

Yeah, if Sept at TWS is CCW, we won't get to work on the turns you identified from the CW video, but not to worry: I have my *****-lifts going CCW too (T5, T7, and T12)!

Next weekend I'll be concentrating on smoother application/release of brakes and gas, and conserving kinetic(?) energy; I've looked at old videos and it seems as though I used to be smoother in blue, but I guess as confidence has increased, so has my tendency to be overly aggressive with the mechanical capabilities of the car. I need to take a step backwards so that I can enter the fall season on the right footing... or the left footing... or the correct right footing... whatever! So I'll also ask you to give me your baseline assessment of where I stand on all of that come September.
