It should be noted also that the track was designed and built over 50 years ago. Sports cars
of the period were not nearly as fast as those that would come later.[/QUOTE]

Sure, and the same could be said of any of the tracks that were built in the fifties; Bridgehampton, Elkhart, Laguna, original Watkins Glen, and LRP. Further, those tracks are (were) better tracks for vintage racing, as they do not place such a premium on brakes, the recognized weak point of older race cars. I'll bet the vintage guys continue to run the original LRP layout for that reason.

Love the "flying" pictures! I got the front really light on that uphill and traction control tried to kill me (stupidly forgot to turn it off) upon "landing" lol...

LRP scared the living hell out of me (it was my first DE!!) almost to the point of not wanting to do it again... but thats EXACTLY why I love it

I watched a 944T and 930 car racing one week end and the 930 took the chance over the crest of the hill and came down from the air not pointed exactly straight.....lots of expensive broken spare parts. The driver was ok.

The 944T drove back to the pits.

To Gums: I also drove and loved the original Glen circuit. Remember "Big Bend"? Also the Bridge, Hansgen and Arents.

Ron,
I figured you'd chime in on that one! What happened that day, I heard that the kid just inexplicably had an enormous wreck on the first warm up lap of the morning. ???

Too fast on cold tires. Drove of West Bend into embankment. He was a young fast kid, who lacked enough experience. I had known his very experienced mechanic for years.

Sad day.

911s doing wheelies! That's hot. Great pics, considering the camera, especially the humpty-humps.
