I have a Chatterbox full-face headset hard-wired in to my helmet.
Last weekend, I had an instructor for my check-out ride who also had a Chatterbox headset hard-wired in his helmet.
Neither of us could figure out how to connect the two together but there must be a way.
Does anyone know how to connect 2 Chatterboxes together?
Thanks.
Marc

There is an instructor chord available which is merely an extended cable that connects the headset part of one helmet to the chatterbox unit on the other helmet. Unfortunately, as I mentioned in another thread this evening, the extension chord is the most unreliable piece of the set.

The chatterbox connector is s simple serial port (6 pin plug). If you have basic soldering skills (and nothing better to do on a Friday evening), you can make your own.
helmet-side cable
Pin Name Direction Description
1 n/c not connected
2 n/c not connected
3 - Mic Microphone ground
4 - Spk Speaker ground
5 + Mic Microphone hot
6 +Spk Speaker

You can jerry-rig an adapter easily to accomodate any type of helmet communication system. I have a hardwired intercom in my car that uses a Nady type headset (mini-stereo jack). I made an adapter so that my instructors can plug in no matter what type of headset they have (very nerdy I know). But, the nady headsets can be had for like $14 on ebay.

I think the extension should work.. I have one for my student set, and unplug that, when we switch seats or get out.
CB50 HSEX - 19.95
-no, looks like a gender bender is also needed...
anyone try use the audio connection (cb audio cord 9.95)???

Lol, this is easy:
You unplug your mike/headset from your unit, and plug your mike/headset into the extension cord. Then plug the extension cord into your buddy's unit, just as if you were a student plugging in with a portable headset.
