I have a 1986 911 3.2 with a 915 no LSD
I recently changed the transmission to the Swepco 201 and it seems worse than what was in there before. I searched and unambiguously Swepco is the recommended fluid so I'm not sure why I'm not getting the miracle results I expected. It's been harder to get into 2nd and has ground a few times getting into 5th since I put in Swepco.
Does anyone have experience with Motul Gear 300 75W90 Synthetic?
Also, does anyone have experience with Motul 300V 15W50 Synthetic motor oil?
Any advice is appreciated.

I changed my 996 and 964 to Red Line 75/90. If you go to www.redlineoil.com they give you lots of info.
I'm not sure I did the right thing by going to the 75/90 that was recommended to me. The website says I should be using th 75/90 NS. I think the NS means not synthetic. Evidently some of the additives that make some gear oils slippery make the syncros too slippery to work properly.
My point is, it got more complicated that i though. i thought all i had to worry about was putting a 75/90 gear oil and and the more expensive and more synthetic, the better. evidently not.
Back to mine. In my 996, the warmer the gearbox, the better the shifting. I'll drive the 964 on the track next week and see how it does.

Just got a response from Red Line. They comfirmed for the syncro equipted Porsche transaxle, the gear oil is 75/90 NS. If you read the bottle on the 75/90, it says "not recommended for most manual transmissions".
Crap! I just put in 75/90!!

This is not good news. I was hoping to get away from Swepco but not if it will do any more damage.
Motul MotylGear says it's perfect for older transmissions and as far as the info on Motul's website it doesn't say not to use it in manual transmissions that I can see.

The problem with many gear lubes is that they are too slippery for the 915 synchros to work efficiently...I have had success with Valvoline Durablend 80w90 as well as Swepco. if you are using Redline the NS variety is what you want.
