Has anyone instructed at daytona?

how did it go? advise? (no top gear?) brake ref points for T1???

-I'll ask BobV next weekend on tech for daytona. But I'd sure like to see a harness mandatory.

(also, ANY Motel recommendations w/ trailer parking space?)

For braking reference points for T1 you can ask Flying Finn, he found the best point during our parade laps at RRIII.

(If it wasn't for the ceramic brakes in my ex-GT3, I probably wouldn't be here typing this post...)

Stayed at the Ramada Speedway last year for the Octoberfast event. There are a few spots for trailers.

I think that it will slide down the banking with 28HP.

MrBill, Smithyman instructed along w others during the audi club event. Either way, When I drove it for the very first time last year, I decided during the first session that I did not want to instruct at this track. I did go and purchase a Hans immediately after the first session

+1 on what Erik said. The audi event was great, safe and fun, but it is amazing how fast street cars can get going on the high banks and I felt rather naked in a three point belt hoping the middle pedal would be pressed coming off the tri-oval. The one thing the audi club did which was great was for cars with indicators to have them signal which side to pass on (right), also the slogan "slow stay low was beaten in at every meeting.

Hope all have a great time, I have a scheduled family "thing"

Eric,

I will bring umrella's to make sure it does not rain.

Since I already signed up I can not see the details, can you run solo on Friday, or is that instructors only? Maybe I should learn the track first for the entire event instead of just one day, before we instruct..

Is it really that much more faster / difficult for students at Daytona??
I have a cage and a Hans, but that does not help me sitting in a 3Point seat belt...
You're scaring me..

OK, I hear you....I think...

I wonder if I am old enough not te be cheap and stupid enymore, but certainly I am too young to hit the wall in a 3 point @150MPH.

As Christian says street cars are getting so damn fast, especially in the hands of a beginner... I remember when 200HP was a lot....

As the Flying Finn puts it, really "f"-ing fast and you are spot on about HP. Today 300HP is no big deal so when you have twin-ts, m3, m5's, z06 well north of 400HP and the ability to be flat from the exit of the bus-stop terminal velocity is absolutely achievable. The exciting part for me was not on the high banks but rather when you transition to the other sections like the tri-oval and entry in to t1 which comes up really ****ING FAST when you are north of 150mph.

Enjoy
