Between $12k and $15k per race depending on travel distance for KONI Challenge ST if I have my professional co-driver in the car with me. Half that if I have a paying co-driver that can drive. A quarter of that if I have a paying co-driver that can't drive.

And this assumes no major repairs to the car after the race weekend.

How many hours is an average PCA race weekend?

Does that include ALL items (lodging, food, fuel, tires, brakes, engine rebuilds, etc)? Transport ?
I guess my average weekend is 4 - 5 hours, but I think it costs me more than $5k for everything mentioned above? Do you think $1500 an hour is closer to true costs?

This has my vote for most depressing thread.
Too bad - I'm still going to the track. Much cheaper than psychotherapy.

I figure it costs us $200.00 per car per day in state and about $400.00 per car per day out of state, since we need hotel rooms and diesel for the dooly.

This, offcourse always includes a bottle of Jack..

Thats just for the car. We have a motorcoach that we stay in so no hotel rental car etc and we do our own wrenching. Probably about the cheapest way to run a cup...or 2 or 3....

There's a saying that me the guys in our group keep saying when we gripe about the cost of something......

"What part did you think was going to be cheap....the Porsche part, or the Racing part?"

Maybe I should sell the Cup and get a Spec Boxster......
That seems to be cheap enough.
Any other P-cars that are cheap and reliable to race??

No such thing exists. Some are reliable but none are cheap.

A Spec Boxster seems cheap in comparison to a Cup.
I guess it is all relative to what you can spend, right?

I spreadsheet everything.. My average running cost for a DE with my street 996 GT3 is @$700 per day including consumables, gas & track costs. This does not include lodging or cost of my track garage.

This thread has completely killed my dream of running a Cup Car. Thanks guys. All of you really suck.

Now, a divorce is inevitable. I am the walking dead. Heroine must be cheaper.

OK, so you're well over $1k/day when you factor in lodging and other fun factors like opportunity cost. You including amortization costs for engine/tranny rebuilds, etc? (Sorry, if you spreadsheet "everything", I just want to make sure you actually are and aren't fooling yourself...)
