Who was....?

He was known to ride his bicycle each year from his home in Strasbourg to Le Mans for the 24 Heures du Mans. ...more than 400 miles! I recall photos of him weeping on the Le Mans podium in 1998 because he had finished in 2nd place overall in what he felt was his last real chance to win the race that had eluded him.

That was an unforgetable experience for me. I was hanging out with Randy Pobst at the Alex Job tent when we found out. It took the wind out of the whole weekend. I think about that moment every time I'm at Sebring.

Bob Wollek. Sweet. Thank you all. I was watching the "Inside 956" video clips on YouTube with Derek Bell and that got me to thinking about all the greats and Wollek's name eluded me. How many of you made it to Sebring this year? I was very disappointed I didn't get to see Porsche return to triumph there. Moved all the way across the country last August. Good news is... Laguna Seca is 15 minutes from my front door. Porsche RS Spyder will be here in October, I believe.
