Hey Skip, I remember well, the smoothest heel/toe ever felt :-)
The rule is "no racing in the last 12 months". There is now a provision that apperently lets you do ONE race a year to try it, without penalty. If you race more then once during a year, you cannot run in Super Solo for 12 months following the last race. Of course, no matter what, you have to get approved by Bob Shuster and pass the anual tech inspection.

Race Car
ok...
driver must have:
approved 2layer suit
sa2000 and up helmet
balaclava for all with facial hair
fire resistant socks and shoes
fire resistant gloves
car must have:
fire extinguisher or fire system(with proper signage)
approved roll bar
FIA seat, unless approved otherwise
5 or 6 point belts
must rock the PBOC super solo sticker on both fenders
but most importantly, you must be a safe driver with a good head on your shoulders; which is why I find it surprising that Dan is in there with us.....
check with PBOC on all the requirements before you start making any changes, I may of missed something....

-Do you know if they check the dates on the belts?
on the seats: I have some street recaro's that should pass tech... harness passes thru headrest.
I also picked up some sparco's but the dates are over 5 years...
-Do you know if they check the date on a FIA seat?
what about a seat back brace? I also picked one up..
-PS: Dan the man is now: Dan, Mr 5th gear Man!

MrBill,
For racing, the FIA certification isn't a concern if you run a seat back brace. With no seat back brace it is a 5 year expiration. So, I would guess that the SS requirement isn't more strict than club racing, but not sure, just a thought.

Race Car
Thanks Skip!
This car will never go wheel to wheel, but with daytona opening up, I would like to run there, and do some SS, at the longer tracks (hmstd / sebring / RR).
-I'm just trying to figure what it will cost me to run SS. (upgrade wise)
-Anyone who ran DAYTONA last fall in a non race group.... what was required at tech?

Bill:
Yes they check the belts
Yes your seat is OK to go with the seat back brace
Yes 5 gears are better than 4!!
Frank:
You aren't still cranky about me oiling down your car at Homestead when 'Ole Blue Blowed up are you?

NICE
So nice I had to watch it twice!
"Gotta get me some" checklist:
1) rear suspension upgrade
2) bigger set of 'nads (I go into T2 like a little girl!) ( If I had the ***** to pass Barry.....)
3) LOTS MORE GAUGES!

It is ok to instruct and run super solo, but you will first have to get approved for super solo by the SS director Bob Schuster(?on spelling?). There are a list of requirements that both the driver and car have to meet. Once he gives you the probation status, you can come and play with the rest of us in the sandbox....
