It was an email sent out by the ALMS a few days ago but I haven't seen it anywhere online.
Sebring, Florida ? The three drivers who pulled-off the greatest upset in sports car endurance racing history will return to Sebring this year to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of their win.
Wayne Baker, Jim Mullen and Kees Nierop drove a Porsche 934 to a stunning victory in 1983, coming from 11 laps behind win America?s premier sports car race. Qualifying only 14th fastest and competing against much faster prototypes, the GTO-class team ran a methodical race, winning despite late race mechanical problems. The final hour of the 1983 race produced so many lead changes that Baker, driving the car when the race ended, had no idea he had won the race overall.
All three drivers will participate in an autograph session Friday afternoon, March 14, at the new Gallery of Legends building in the paddock.
