Default 2008 Sebring Orange Sprint Video

Wow, what a deal.
Sebring is a wonderful event. Thank you to all the people that make this event what it is. I could not believe the amount of stuff we received at registration.
Every thing about Sebring was really cool. The night race was a special experience.
The track really surprised me. It is very challenging to go fast here. I thought because it was so flat that it would not be as much fun as it is, was I ever wrong. I waited waaay to long to attend this event.
It was great seeing every one. I am really looking forward to Road Atlanta.
Here are a couple of laps from the Orange Sprint. Unfortunately my camera shut off sitting on the grid for the Enduro, so I don't have any video from that race. My fast lap from the sprint was a 2:34.6. In the enduro I was running in the low 2:33's, with a fast lap of 2:33 flat. My pit stop ran 1:30 long, so I really screwed myself. I know I can get faster at this track, I have to work on carrying more speed into some of the corners. Sounds easy, huh?

Yeah it is really bumpy. My camera accurately portrays how I perceived the track when driving. What surprised me was how bumpy turn one is, it seems worse than 17 because it is so violent as you are tracking out.

Its 65-year-old WWII Bomber training base concrete, some kluged together asphalt base roads and a few sections of purpose-built asphalt/concrete racing surface that's been scalloped out by 56-years of auto racing and testing. Its incredibly bumpy. That's why a lot of the European sports car teams come here to test for LeMans. Running the 12-Hours of Sebring is harder on the cars than the 24-Hours of LeMans!

Its a great circuit though with a lot of really high-speed section followed by hard braking slow corners and some really great twisty sections. I get really upset when they mention repaving it, or its configuration gets changed again for whatever reason.

Congrats to everyone that participated, it looked like a lot of fun.

There will be an uprising by us Floridians if they ever try to change the configuration. I can't think of one section that people consistently say they don't like.

By the way, nice video. Your second lap line was much better than the first lap. IMHO.... You may have been preoccupied with the green car in the rear view mirror because you pinched off the apex on several turns in the first lap. On the second lap, your line was great. The only thing I would say overall is you probably could have grabbed 2nd gear at 16 to get the launch for the straight away. I saw your tach was pretty low at exit.

Call me old fashioned. I liked the ***** out 4th gear turn onto the 8 lanes wide back straight before they ruined it.

Great driving Doug, always a pleasure to watch you drive. Thanks for posting it. At the end of the vid it looked like you let up before passing the white 911. Is this b/c you thought it was a yellow? How did you place in this one?

Given that like a good Basset, she is bred to chase down rabbits, I suspect that "Old F'er" Doug (New E'er)needs to FEAR the Attack Basset (Snoop):

Here she is, on the job (with her brother Jake)guarding my Niece:
