Default Porsche 962 + Tiff Needell + mid 1980's

Cool video of testing / setting up two Porsche 962's with Tiff Needell and Derek Bell from back in the mid '80s. Check out the 944's and 928's in the back ground!

Cool timing. I was just reading March 08 Road and Track. The flashback page has the story of the Stock Car versus the 962 that took place 20 years ago.

Wow, awesome video - thanks for posting!

2 928's and 2 951's in the background. I wonder if any of the race people were driving 911's.

Her: So, do you stand any chance of winning?

What a stupid question.

I recall that Tiff drove for Dyson Racing (962) in at least one Daytona 24 Hours, 1990 maybe...

major flashback for me! i remember reading that exact mag article; i was sitting in class at Univ of PA, ignoring the proffessor, and reading about the top speed rumble between the 962 and the stock car (a monte carlo, if my memory serves?). its been 20 years; didnt the monte break 240+ mph, or something ridiculous like that???

ah, the good old days!

Experts -

Isn't that a RLR 962? Aluminum honeycomb chassis and "custom" rear bodywork? Very rare, indeed.

Regards to all.

Great video. I particularly like how Tiff spins out then basically states that the reason was because the car wasn't set up properly. He intends to carry the same speed through the corner once the engineers get it fine tuned. I'll have to remember that excuse.

Derek Bell is amazing. I had the fortune of meeting him when he drove the RX-8 for Speedsource at VIR in '06, really nice guy and a fantastic driver.

Anyone download this video and have it as a file? I'd like to keep it and would love a copy if you have.

Very good point.......keep in mind that these guys are serious race car drivers-wrenches....why would they want to drive a flawed design!!!
