Default Uhhhhh....Okay....Whatever

Now that we all know Frankie Muniz has signed for another year of in Champ Car Atlantic, which is great! Getting to know him last year was a pleasure as he is quite the cool guy.

However, read the last line in this article.. Hmmmmmm....

Umm...yeah. 2nd place in the two SCCA National events he ran isn't quite on par with competing against MS.

"So I don't think there's anyone who can keep up with me. And that's just me being honest. "

Sounds like he's got the ego for it....

"I don't want to sound conceited, but I don't think there has been an actor or celebrity-turned-racecar driver that has made it as high up on the racecar circuit as I have," he says. I guess that he never heard of PL Newman or Steve McQueen.

"I want to race Michael Schumacher, seven-time world champion. And I can compete with him." It's one thing to act like a race car champion; quite another to be one.

That is a little bit far fetched.

In his SCCA events on mylaps.

Results

6th of 9 and only 7 running at finish.

2nd to Mirl Swan (he's fast and been the FA SCCA Champion) and .5 seconds off his pace

2nd to Mirl Swan again and he was nearly 3 seconds off the pace.

Mirl and Frankie would have a fairly equal car so they are a good comparison.

The real telling one is his Skip Barber racing on Mylaps.

8 second off in qualifying and 4-5 seconds off in the race. OUCH.

I did have the chance to talk with him and the team manager at Road America. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised by his attitude and approach to the racing. I still got a kick out of what he said to my friend right after his first practice session.

"Man this course is so long by the time you get back to where you were having trouble you've forgotten what you were going to work on." He left that door open to ridicule...

As for what he was quoted.

"I don't want to sound conceited, but I don't think there has been an actor or celebrity-turned-racecar driver that has made it as high up on the racecar circuit as I have," he says. "So I don't think there's anyone who can keep up with me. And that's just me being honest.

Not too smart as others have shown.

Apparently so. According to Rennlist sources close to me, Fernando Alonso is the guy you want a piece of, not Michael Schumacher! BTW, ask that kid from Beverly Hills 90210 (can't remember his name) how his race career ended when he found a wall.

Jason Priestley.

He's just stepped up into the spot of team owner in the IRL

Probably a better choice for him. From what I remember, he almost bought the farm on his accident.

Hey common now!

I know what he said is ..ehh a bit naive and he probably got a dash of hubris. But in the end the motorsport world is quite expensive and if a celebrity steps up and just make some noise about it, the cameras come a long. And you all know cameras = more media coverage = more sponsors = more doe for average Joe. If the kid gets too obnoxious, you can always give him a friendly tap in a tight corner and a flick when you pass by.. That will teach him..
