Default Dedicated Race Shop in Northern NJ

Hey guys,

My brother-in-law was just transferred to the Whitehouse Station, NJ area to work for Merck. He has a '99 GT3 Cup and is looking for a dedicated race shop in the area---he is willing to trailer a reasonable distance. Who can you recommend that is an expert with these cars? (and why would you recommend this particular shop?)

BTW, I did a search and info was somewhat sporadic. I realize that this is a very personal choice, kind of like finding and sticking with the person who cuts your hair. From the look of things, it appears that Dan Jacobs is THE man, but it's a bit of a drive to CT---not too sure my bro-in-law is up for it.

Thanks for your suggestions!!!
Adam

Gene at Autohaus is good and honest from what I have heard... not sure how close that is. There is a place called "Pinnacle" that I have a box of engine parts from (they tore the engine down to try and screw an older lady that brought it in for an OIL CHANGE!).. I wouldn't go there..

No affiliation at all...

For a GT3 Cup - call Rick Deman. Tel:845 727 3070 Power Tech is great, but go take a look at Rick shop and the 10-20 other GT3 cup cars sitting in the shop, it'll help make your descision.

Another excellent shop, and likely the closest to White House Station, is Precision Motorsports Racing in Califon, NJ. Will DiGiovanni is the owner, and he does the work on half a dozen 964 Cups (including mine), 3 or for 996 Cups, and at least one GT3R and GT3RS. His shop also supports several 944 racers, as well as 4 or five BMW Club Racers.

Thanks for all the recommendations. He will be calling Rick DeMan.

Bull, doesn't Precision specialize in 944/968? Plus, I heard of a former 964 Cup customer who had a really awful experience there---totally taken advantage of and ended up selling the car. Oh well, appreciate the input.

Some years ago they specialized in 944s/968s, and while they still have many of those customers, the customer mix and techs have changed quite a bit since then. Anyway, I'm a very happy customer, and know many more of the same, but have no other affiliation.

Hope your Brother-in-Law finds a shop he is happy with. He can't go wrong with Rick.

FWIW, I make the drive to Dan's from Northern New Jersey, but I wouldn't dissuade your bro-in-law from Rick D.

Contact Will DiGiovanni, owner of Precision Motorsports. He is in Califon NJ, less than 10 minute ride from Whitehouse (my in-laws live in Whitehouse and I take my car to Will). Actually he is probably about 5 minutes from Merck.
Will is a sponsor of NNJR PCA. He is a great guy, very fair, and very knowledgeable. He does a good job and is meticulous about his work. I highly recommend him.
