That cage looks pretty good to me and purpose built as opposed to our streetcar turned race cars. I think is was just a bad hit in the doors. I'm not sure what you could do to survive that one except build a NASCAR style chassis.

In the very first video it looks as if there is some compromise in the harness like he either came out of it or it failed. He ends up way to far forward in the car.

Again, a cage in a unibody is a lot different than the cage of a tube frame car.

He was not using a HANS Device, since it was not mandatory in 2007 but will be in 2008.

Is it known whether the fatal injury occurred in the frontal impact or the side impact?
