I posted this in the 964 group and thought I’d also ask it in the DE/Racing forum. I understand that the rated lifespan for a competition safety harness is 2 - 5 years, depending on the particular club racing rules.

For an occasional DE participant like myself, what would be an acceptable (read:safe) lifespan for a Schroth 5-point harness? What if it is in like new condition (little used and stored out of the sun) but manufacture date was year 2000?

To get the conversation started:

1. Heinous –should be replaced yesterday!
2. Depends, but should be ok for a few more years…
3. At 6-8 DE days a year, should last the lifetime of the car.
