Renn did a nice job of hanging with the GT also.

Why doesn't it surprise me that there isn't 100 replies to this video. If it had been a rear engined car, guess what? You'd have to take a ticket to get a post in....

No offense intended, but if Renn951 was able to hang w/ the CGT, that driver needs to grow a pair and pick up the pace.
Renn, was that Dr. J's reincarnated car?? If so, it looks reasonably quick.

I couldn't get the video to open, but will offer a thought that may be controversial.
The fact that a 968 passd a CGT is meaningless. You don't know anything about the CGT driver. Did he know the track? Had he ever been on a track? Was it his first lap? Was he just warming tires?
In the late 1980's, I absolutely made the day of a driver of a Triumph Spitfire at Road Atlanta. I was driving my vintage Can Am Lola T163, but had never been to Atlanta. The transporter arrived late, so I missed first practice. On my second lap, when I still didn't know which way the course went, an early
60's Spitfire flew by me.
What did it prove? I was driving at 3,000 rpm trying to learn a course. He knew the course, and didn't need to slow down. It only shows that a driver who knows his car and course is faster than one who doesn't. AS

You sound a little bitter. Internet "kill" videos are, while fun sometimes, meaningless. I have video of me passing a CGT, Viper, Z06, 996/997 Gt-3, 997 RSR, Ferraris, blah, blah, blah. I also have video of me being passed by a spec miata. The CGT is a fast car, but it is also very expensive and I doubt very many CGT owners drive that car anywhere near it's limit.

I was there and spoke to the owner of the CGT. I also have Traqmate data from the CGT. There were several drivers and the owner is not aggressive, but is an exceptionally generous person. He had MPSCs and the track was cold on some laps. I don't know if this was one of those laps. He changed to street tires, and I have data to shows 159 mph on the back straight, and a lap time of 2:10 on street tires. But I also know, from the data, that the driver of that lap wasn't pushing it in the turns!
It was my first time there. What a great track and a nice facility. The Audi Club ran a great DE. I can't wait to go back.

If I'm not mistaken when John passed the GT, the Pro/coach was driving the CGT. At least one of the driver's is aggressive (on the straights) and came from near nowhere to pass me under waving yellow before the blind crest on the back straight. I had lifted when I saw the waving yellow; but, was near 5500 in fifth halfway down the backstraight when I saw the yellow.

With the value of the CGT even with deep pockets most wouldn't push too hard. The fact that they are willing to take it to the track at all is pretty impressive IMHO. However if it was a rear-engined car that made the pass then I would be all over it.
