I'm probably about a year or so away from considering an upgrade of my track car if this housing market ever gets turned around.
Having been through the build up process on my S2 and realizing the amount of $ that I have spent I have learned my lesson and would want to buy an already prepped car![Smilie](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
I've seen some of these cars going for about 50K with new motors and trannies and set up nicely.
Am I missing something?? I know it's not the true dry sump motor but... but...
I would think it would be "fairly" economical to run.
I talked to someonw who has a 997 Cup car and he told me his running cost are about $1000/Hr OUCH ! Too much for me.
Are these cars competetive in PCA racing?
Please share the wisdom of this board and "enlighten" me..

A fully developed GAC car will run in GTA where it will not be competitive. To make one PCA stock legal will take some work. Some issues include:
A/C removed
ECU's flashed
Interior stripped
Camber plates
and a bunch of little stuff.
No really big deals but plan on spending some money.

Jim & Randy-
Thanks for the comments.
I have looked at Jim's car online and from what I can tell seems like a really well prepped car.
I guess my problem is the realibility of the 996 motor and wether I just want to continue doing DE's or take the final plunge. That will be my conundrum over the next year.
In a DE environment are the GS cars durable enough??
Is there a possibility of enough of them becoming available to have their own class?
Or should I just consider a GT3??
Thanks for the comments.

You should never have a problem with reliability in a DE environment. Remember, these cars were prepped to race in a professional endurance series. You most likely won't even come close to pushing the car as hard at a season of DE's as most of these cars were pushed every race weekend of their professional lives.
I never had a single problem with mine (other than teething problems right after the engine swap that were quickly sorted) and in talking to the person that bought it from me, he hasn't had any issues either.
If GTB becomes a class, these cars will slot in nicely.
Check the car you are looking at carefully, a lot of them retained the AC/Heater (I know mine did as it came in handy in wet races). I know with my old car, all that would have been needed to run in the stock classes was an interior. That's an easy fix. And it ran in the 2:06's at Daytona with the underpowered 3.4L engine (pre-swap).
