New ACO Regulations for P1's (Le Mans)
The ACO have made another pathetically feeble attempt at addressing the diesel v petrol disparity in the rules for P1 cars for Le Mans.
They have reduced the minimum weight requirement to 900 Kg and have increased the air restrictor size for the petrol engined cars by 3%.
This equates to a gain of about 19bhp .
These changes will translate to an improvement of the lap times of about 1 to 2 seconds at Le Mans.
It is important to remember that the petrol engined P1 are about 6 seconds off the pace of the diesels at Le Mans!
Given the above, I strongly doubt that we will see a Porsche P1 at Le Mans within the foreseeable future.
