Default Info on 944 Spec racing

Can anyone direct me to information on 944 Spec racing? I'm considering purchasing a race car and like the close competition of this particular class. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

944Spec Homepage here:

http://www.944spec.org/944SPEC/

The 944 Spec forum is here:

There are a ton of 944 Spec cars racing in SoCal in the POC and NASA and a lot of local resources. The forum is a good place to ask questions.

Here you go:

http://944spec.org/944SPEC/

Those are the main guys racing out by you... but cars built to cup specs have a place as well.

Also specific questions can probably be best addressed on the NASA 944 Challenge forums:

Edit: You beat me to it Cory!

I'd love to, but I need to do some planning first. It's been many years since racing auto X and some limited time trials. I guess I'll have to go to school and get a license first. Is that how it works?
I'll keep doing research and get all the facts. Who knows...maybe we will see you there.

you will have to have an instructor for the first few times, and do 1 school day for that license which is in January. It's really a good educational program to go through.

I missed this tread since I was out racing my 944 spec car this weekend.

Ok you have the 944 spec website and forums. Also there are complete cars for sale in San Diego. Tim Comeau is the regional director there and direct you to local cars. He also builds spec cars too. His contact information is on the http://944spec.org homepage - See contacts

As for Texas and 944 spec. Right now there are no cars there. However last year in Denver there were may 1-2 cars. Now the are 5-6 racing and abotu 15 more being built up. The class is grow by leaps and bounds. All you need is one or two brave guys to start. Once they start others tend to follow.

There is soon to be at least one 944 Spec / SP 1 car in Texas. I am converting my I class 944 to the SP 1 rules and hope to be ready for the Hallet race in Oct. I am also attending Rennsport Reunion in Nov.

Next season I plan to try some NASA races and hopefully attend the Nationals.

I am in San Antonio, milnejk@hotmail.com
