Default Recaro Pole Position vs Recaro Profi SPG

I'm looking to buy a pair of track seats to replace my OEM Sport Seats - they're for sale BTW Problem is, I can't figure out the difference between Recaro's Pole Position and SPG seats other than price.

I'm using the car for Street/DE and would like a comfortable seat for the long treks to the Glen for instance.

Any idea which one is better and why?

Thanks!

Sat in both. Recaro Profi SPG XL fit me. Got aftermarket lumbar support.

- Pole Position is a bit wider than the SPG (SPG XL is bigger than both)
- SPG has a ribbed back (stronger?), pole position doesn't
- SPG has friction material on shoulder wings

I'm 6' and 175lbs and I fit snugly into the SPG.

Great thank you! We're about the same size/weight, so now I know the answer

I'm 5-9, 180 or so, and I fit nicely in the pole positions. Snug but not too tight for long distances, but they're murder for getting in and out of the car as a DD. You have to sit in seats before you purchase. Your "seat" will make it obvious which car seat is best.

FWIW, I drive my car to the track, and the furthest I've driven in one shot is about 4 hours. It's a bit tiring for that distance since I can't really move much in the seat , but for a hour or two, it's fine. At the track, I love it.

I'm 5'11" and 160 pounds. I use the Pole Position for long drives (8 hours) without issues. It's a little wider than the SPG, which -- for me at least -- makes it the perfect compromise for comfort on the way to the track and locked-down support once you're there. I take out the lower cushions for better 'track feel' and better helmet clearance.

In black leather, they don't look too cheesy either.

6' 1" 240lbs with a 36-38" waist (depends on the pants).

Recaro Pole Position here, fits like a glove.

The PP's are also shorter than the SPG. I recently sat in some PP's and the strap holes were lower than my shoulders, VS my SPG they are just above them. I'm 6'2" ~200lbs and fit just fine in my SPG, I fit very well in my spg.

I just bought a SPG XL seat. I like that it is a little wider then the PP and I'm not a fat ***. The big thing is the holes for the harness are higher then the PP and work better with a HANS. Good luck getting them into your 964. I am still trying to get the right parts for my 993.

Ilko, drive up to Par Performance in New Rochelle to check out the seats. Paul is apparently the Recaro distributor for the NE and has the seats on display and the hardware you'll need. (no affiliation, blah blah blah)

spg xl works very well with hans as someone mentioned.
pp fits most average sized male.
to fit spg, you have to be mel nourished. if u are less than 6feet and over 180lbs. your legs will be shoved together and ***** crushed. dont bother.
i have all three seats i know.

Because of the lower back and the lower shoulder harness openings, he Pole Position is generally for drivers 5-10 or shorter. The SPG is better for taller drivers. I'm 6-1, 195 lbs and the SPG fits me like a glove. `PAR or Stable Energies are good places to try them out.
