Default Who's going to the Lonestar region Sep 15 DE at TWS?

Registration opened today (Aug 15), but I'm looking at it in clubregistration.net and I see the DE listed, but no option to register for it.

EDIT: Its open to register now. I'm in. Already registered at the Manure House!

I'll be there. I'm signed up on Clubregistration.net and registered at the Manure house as well.

Since mglobe won't be there, I'll offer Woodford Reserve neat in place of the Martinis.

Cant' wait, it's been too long since June.

I heard it's going clockwise, but they've been threatening that for a while. If it is, just get some of the Woodford Reserve from UV & you won't know the difference.

Not sure yet. If TWS finally fixes the tire barrier at T4, we will go CW. That work has been delayed all summer by the rain. Hope they git er done. CW is a hoot and a half!

That would just be my luck. I've only driven the track once and that was CCW. And I still didn't really learn it well going that direction. Now if its going CW, I'll suck at it even worse...

Dude, you will pick it up fine. That's what the instructors are for! There's actually more visibility running CW--you can see much farther ahead.

Hey, sounds like you aren't giving up much if you only been CCW once. With the right person in the right seat, you will learn any new track quickly. I would suggest more of an "I'm going to kick this track's ***" attitude here.

Once I'm out there, I'm sure it'll become comfortable quickly. My only thought initially was that I was really looking forward to practicing what I learned there last time. Running a track backwards is like learning a whole new track. At TWS, I'll bet the speeds on the front straight are faster since you would be carrying more speed coming out of T1 instead of T13-14-15. I'm guessing the trade-off is that the braking zone for the end of the front straight becomes less forgiving as you approach 15....

True. If you get T3 right, you can stay in the throttle from its exit all the way to T15 (with a lift/breathe for T2 in most cars). So speeds are theoretically much higher. However, you can also see T15 coming from a long way away, so it is easy to begin braking early, in a straight line, and gradually moving your brake point forward. Plus, if you mess up, you can always keep going straight on the NASCAR oval instead of turning down the banking into T15.

VERY safe, actually.

Hey, Greg. Are you doing the solo-only BMW DE on Sep 29 at MSR (1.7 course)? I was very tempted to sign up for that, but that would make three DE weekends in a row and I can't afford the divorce attorney fees. The MSR 1.7 course is a blast!
