Default Anyone Know This Car?

I'm shopping for a dedicated car and this one seems pretty nice. It lives in CT right now so I thought someone might have seen it running a LRP where the owners says he raced it a couple of times in 2005. Don't think it has raced since. Any ideas?

Can't say i've ever seen it at LRP, but maybe he isn't a PCA guy? I don't know squat about 924/944 cars or i'd be glad to take a peek at it for you..

I was on track with that car once at LRP in 2005 IIRC.
Didn't meet the owner however.

Thanks Gary. He did race PCA. This will be my first experience with 944s. There are a lot of race series for these cars so I think I'll buy one and see how they are. Not too expensive to try. I hope!!

2005. Last race in car. What was your impression of the car?

I know spazegun has a Spec944 for sale that is in VA which isn't too far from you.

You can see how the car/driver performed in the race here

Looks like a clean car. The front air dam is non-stock... but it looks good!

How do you go about putting a value on these cars? They are priced from a couple of grand to 30K.
Car looks decent. It has not been on the track in 2 yrs.

Thanks for the race results. He told me he had a 2nd and 3rd in 2005.

Ahh, the monsoon race of 05... Hopefully some of the guys running in H or I will chime in for you Randy. You also may want to hop on the NASA 944 Spec forums and ask around - http://www.nasaforums.com/viewforum.php?f=40

I think it's a great way to go racing and if I was starting off again I might try that route.

Randy, if you're thinking about eventually going racing with the car take your time finding the right one. My advice would be to talk to some racers in your area who run the different series about the puts and calls of different series and different setups then start looking for a car. You'd hate to decide a year from now that you want to run a series that has strict cage requirements only to find yourself with a car that doesn't meet them. A good example is trying to run a PCA car in NASA. Also, what I've learned is that a good first step is to find a good race shop you'll use for support and work with them on finding the right car.

Stefan seems like a really nice guy and I think he takes good care of his cars. He raced in the late 1990s mostly, maybe a different 944 but always in a 944 IIRC. I have not checked out the car closely but I would bet it's a really nice one.

Good luck!!

I appreciate the tips on how to hunt and vet a car. I will check the NASA site. NASA is racing at Road Atlanta this weekend so I will, of course, be there. I know several guys and gals who race PCA and NASA. I had no idea the cage requirements are different.
J3 Racing is helping me vet the cars. Difficult w/o seeing but, I pass all info to Martin who raced these cars for years. Proper motor and good cages seems to be his big issues. This car has a bolt in cage and I got a on that. Must get it welded in.
I will drive the car at least a year before going racing. If I don't get bored with it first that is.

You might want to check the 944 Cup board - www.44cup.com It is much more east coast centric - the spec boards are a little more west coast oriented.

Are you looking to run 944 Cup or PCA (or both)?
